Orlando Auto Accident Leaves a Mother Dead

An Orlando auto accident involving a single car and a teenage driver leaves a mother dead and two others injured when the sport utility vehicle (SUV) she was driving overturned in a retention pond. The incident took place on Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2009 in an Orange County resort.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ariel King, 14, of Jacksonville, was driving the SUV when the accident occurred. She apparently lost control of the SUV, jumped a curb and went through an aluminum fence. The SUV came to a stop, overturned, in a retention pond in the local resort.

Ariel’s mother, 34-year-old Dana King, was killed by injuries suffered in the accident. Orange County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Dive Team had to recover her body from the submerged SUV. She apparently died in the vehicle

Ariel King was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for critical injuries sustained in the wreck.

There were three other passengers in the SUV at the time of the incident. Three-year-old Brealyn Nesmith also suffered critical injuries. The other two passengers, 13-year-old Taylor Nesmith and 33-year-old Brandon Nesmith were not injured.

The fatal Orlando accident involving the teenage girl and her mother is still under investigation by local authorities.
