Ybor City Accident Involves Four Cars

An Ybor City car accident in involving four cars leaves a woman in serious condition. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon, November 10, 2009.

According to Capt. Bill Wade of Tampa Fire Rescue, an unidentified woman driving a Colorado pickup truck ran a red light at the intersection of Palm Avenue and N. 21st Street causing the four-vehicle wreck.

Witnesses report that the woman was traveling west on Palm Avenue when she ran the red light and crashed into a white Ford F-250, according to Sgt. Joseph Fish of the Tampa Police Department. The force of the impact caused the F-250 to flip over and strike a white Chevrolet Impala.

The woman’s truck then struck a GMC Jimmy causing her Colorado to spin out of control and into the side of a building on the southeast corner of the intersection.

According to the Tampa Police Department, the woman who had run the red light had to be cut free from the pickup truck. Rescue workers transported her to Tampa General Hospital where she was treated for serious injures.

The driver of the F-250 was also transported to Tampa General Hospital and treated for injuries. The injuries were not reported as being life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.

The Ybor City accident is still under investigation by local authorities. However, charges have not filed as of yet.
