Two People Injured in Wesley Chapel Car Accident

Two people were injured in a car accident on the afternoon of Sunday, July 26, 2009 in Wesley Chapel. The crash involved three vehicles at State Road 54 and Boyette Road.

The Wesley Chapel car accident occurred when 51-year-old Bernard Walker, a Tampa resident, was traveling west on State Road 54 at 3:55 PM in a 2007 Ford box truck. As he approached the intersection, he hit a 1999 four-door Chevrolet driven by 21-year-old Katie Remley, a Wesley Chapel resident, who was stopped at the intersection facing south. Remley was attempting to turn left to head east on State Road 54, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Walker lost control of his vehicle and it flipped onto its right side. His truck then hit a third vehicle driven by Temika Coker, a Wesley Chapel resident.

According to Walker’s report to the police, the traffic light was yellow when he crossed the intersection and Remley went forward with a left turn. However, Remley said that she had a green light.

Walker was taken to University Community Hospital in Tampa for treatment for minor injuries. Remley was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Coker did not go to the hospital.
