St Cloud Truck Accident Leaves Trucker Dead

A St. Cloud truck accident involving a tractor-trailer truck and a van leaves a driver dead after his truck slams into the van and overturns. The incident took place at approximately 10:15 AM on Friday morning, January 29, 2010, at the intersection of Canoe Creek Road and Mildred Bass Road.

According to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the tractor-trailer truck, Henry Morris III, 37, of Davenport, slammed into a 1990 Ford van. The force of the impact caused his truck to jack-knife and overturned. Morris died from his injuries sustained in the accident.

The tractor-trailer truck was following the van that was headed southbound on Mildred Bass Road when the van slowed down to make a left turn, according to a Florida Highway Patrol summary of the incident. Morris apparently did not see the van slowing and attempted to avoid the van. However, Morris’ truck struck the van, pushing the van through the intersection and into a tree.

The driver of the van has been identified as Crystal Stephens, 26, of St. Cloud. It was unclear whether Stephens was injured in the two-vehicle wreck.

The fatal St. Cloud accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
